It’s Going to Be a Warm One! This Weekend’s Family Friendly Events Calendar…

The weekend is just around the corner, and the weather is going to be BEAUTIFUL! This is your chance to get out of the house and out into the world of Santa Monica. With my upcoming social calendar being so busy, I thought I would share some of my favorite events for this weekend. I will be enjoying the rays of sunshine and warm air (not to mention the new Gyro Loop Games) at Pacific Park, so stop by before or after any of these amazing events to say hello!

Now through March 31st, 2012

The UCP Project, United Cerebral Palsy’s creative arts program dedicated to children and young adults with an Autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disability, presents, What Children Know.  This exhibition features a selection of images which capture the strengths and abilities of their students. It is a reflection of the wonderful things the children have taught us. Included with the images are quotes from their teachers.

Participation in the UCPlay Project is open to all students with special needs and Head Start programs in schools throughout Los Angeles County.  The UCPlay Project is subsidized by United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.

LOCATION: Santa Monica Pier Carousel, 200 Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica, CA 90401 (310) 458-8901

The exhibition is located in the Carousel Hippodrome and opens at 11AM daily. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Kids ages 4 to 10 join in on stage for a totally interactive afternoon of story-telling, sing-a-longs, crafts, face-painting, enactment of a fairytale, theatre games, refreshments and special surprise gifts in this delightful Santa Monica Playhouse Special Event for youngsters and their grown-ups, hosted by the gaily costumed Enchanted Fairytale Players. Grandchildren coming for the weekend? Moms and Dads want to celebrate a special event? Enchanted Fairytale Interactive Theatre is just the thing to give kids the chance to make new friends, improvise, make handicrafts, sing, dance, and act out the story, working with members of Actors’ Repertory Theatre, Santa Monica’s professional acting company, as they take over the stage for 90 minutes of pure theatre fun. These events only take place a few times during the year, so make your reservations right away. Parents work as partners throughout this adorable acting adventure, taking an active role in all aspects of the program as everyone shares their personal perspectives on the day’s fairytale, plays fun games that develop the imagination, and works with crafts to create props which are used in the final presentation. Space is extremely limited and reservations are a must. With complimentary refreshments and a special gift for each participant, it’s the perfect event for the whole family to enjoy. Great for birthday parties, too! Parents are FREE! Space is extremely limited! RESERVATIONS ARE NECESSARY!
